Our congregation has been raising funds for a new building since 2004.
Work on our new church building has begun! Please read below on how to help us achieve our goal.
Due to major concerns on the structure of the old church building, the Fortrose Deacons’ Court in 2001 began to undertake extensive research and consultation into the best way to address the many difficulties facing the future of the church building (which includes the church hall).
It was concluded that the only realistic course of action, in the best interests of good stewardship, is to build a new church building on the present site. Therefore, in 2004, a Building Fund was established with £12,000 from our Fabric Fund, which now, thanks to the congregation’s regular giving, and to legacies and donations, stands at (end July, 2018) £146,663 after making payments to date of £530,046. Thus the total we have raised to date is £676,709.
Unfortunately we have had an adjustment to the cost of the new build due to a re-measurement on the amount of soil and sub soil that had to be removed to provide a solid foundation for the new building. This has added £105,000 to the cost of the project. This lifts the price of the new build from £698, 385 to £803,385. (Actual anticipated cost of the whole project–which includes Planning Permission, Bat Surveys, QS fees, furnishings, AV, etc.–is £878,296.)
Grants of £45,000 have been awarded and we have applied to release £30,000 of these; the remaining £15,000 will only be released when the work is completed. We are very grateful to The Ferguson Bequest Fund (£5,000); The Beatrice Laing Family Trust (£5,000); The Baird Trust (£10,000); The Gloag Foundation (£3,000) and The Robertson Trust (£20,000) for their promises of help.
This leaves a funding gap of £157,724. We have been offered loans to address this but would like to fund as much of gap as possible through further donations.
We are very much aware of the financial difficulties we are all under but commend our project to people’s prayers and to their kindness in the Lord.
